FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be an artist or culture worker to stay?

No. You do not have to be an artist or culture worker to stay at 4th Space Mile‑End. Your stay, whatever your reason for visiting, helps keep these homes available and affordable for artists, researchers, and other cultural workers who often have fewer housing options during short‑term projects.

If you appreciate a quiet, lived‑in space in a creative neighborhood, you are welcome.

What kind of stays work best here?

4th Space Mile‑End is especially well suited to 1–6 week visits: residencies, research trips, remote work periods, relocations, or extended visits to friends and family. The spaces are set up for people who value calm, routine, and a home‑like environment more than a quick, tourist‑style stay.

Both accommodations have good Wi‑Fi and space to work, and there is a one‑week minimum stay.

Is parking available?

Parking is on‑street only. In this part of Mile End, street parking is generally:

  • Free from 6 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Monday
  • Free overnight on weekdays from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Daytime weekday parking may be time‑limited or require paying attention to local signs, so guests who plan to drive regularly should allow a little extra time to find a spot and read the posted rules.

Is the North Suite private or shared?

The North Suite is a fully self‑contained two‑bedroom apartment with its own kitchen, bathroom, and laundry. It is ideal if you prefer full privacy and a clear separation between your work and common areas.

You will not be sharing the apartment with the host or other guests during your stay.

Is the East Guest Room private or shared?

The East Guest Room is a private bedroom within a shared apartment with your host. You have your own room and desk, and share the kitchen, living room, and bathroom (including in‑suite laundry).

This option is best if you are comfortable with a homestay‑style setup and enjoy the possibility of light, everyday contact with your host.

How long can I stay?

Stays are typically between one and six weeks. A one‑week minimum helps keep the spaces focused on people who need a temporary home base rather than a quick weekend.

If you are considering a shorter or longer stay, you can reach out to discuss options.

Can I host meetings, workshops, or events?

Small, informal visits with friends or collaborators are welcome, but anything larger should be checked with your host first.

The yard occasionally hosts small live music events organized by the host, but these are kept intimate and respectful of neighbors.

Is 4th Space Mile‑End accessible by public transit?

Yes. Mile End is well served by buses and is a short walk or ride from several metro stations. Most guests get around easily on foot, by bike, or with public transit, and can reach universities and cultural institutions without needing a car.

If you share your destination in advance, your host can suggest simple routes.

Can I bring children or pets?

This depends on the specific space and timing. Some stays with children may be possible in the North Suite, while the East Guest Room is generally best for adults. Pets are considered case by case and may not always be possible.

If you are traveling with children or animals, please get in touch with details before booking.
